The Ramayan is probably the most read and preached book in the Hindu society. There are Ramayan mandalis all around us as
well as resources. Even most of our bhajans and kirtans are about lord Rama. Ramayan is in brief the story of how Lord
Vishnu (Narayan) came to earth in his Rama avatar to rid the earth of evil (mainly Ravana). Most of us know the story
lord Rama so you may just want to skip the page and start reading the Ramayan. However I feel i should state here that
reading the Ramayan is a very thrilling and fullfilling act as it teaches us much more than just Rama and Ravana.
As a child I grew up hearing the story of Rama however not until recently when I started reading the Ramayana did I
realise just how much of the details we do not get told from it. As a book the Ramayan is a sea of knowledge and tells
many tales relating to Vishnu, Brahma, Narad, Valmiki, Tulsidas, Dashrath and etc. So I would recommend reading Ramayan
to everyone and for that purpose I am placing a friendly Ramayan on this site. It will contain the original sanskrit shlokas
as well as Hindi and English explanations.
